Cavalry Training Bulletins

and

Riding Certifications

These are in Acrobat format and you will need at least Version 7.0 to read them.

Riding Certifications:

Basic Riding Certification - Proves that you and your horse have basic horsemanship skills

Battle Certifications - Three levels of Certification, Rear Guard - 1st level allows rider and horse on the battle field, does not engage but gets horse and rider use to the Battle Field experience.   Reserves - 2nd level of Certification, does light engagements, rides in a column and fire at the enemy.  Front Line - 3rd level and highest level of Certification, can engage anywhere in the field, under orders!

Cavalry Training Bulletins:

These are the commands and maneuvers used by are unit.  These are right out the the book "Patten's Cavalry Tactics"  which were written by George Patten in 1862 where he condensed the 3 volume set of Poinsetts.  Poinsetts was the Cavalry manual used to train all Cavalry commanders since 1843 thru 1860's.  Many versions surfaced at the beginning of the Civil War but Poinsetts was the manual of choice!

What we have attempted to do, is to clearly define the commands and movements and re-do the graphics so it is easier to understand.  We have tried to stay true to the commands and movements as they were taught to the cavalrymen during the years 1861 to 1865.

We hope you enjoy them and if you have any suggestions or corrections please contact us!
